Video Editing

Artem and Olivia Wedding Reel (2023)

In an attempt at a job as a wedding video editor for Move Mountains Co., Spencer was tasked with editing assets filmed back in 2021 to create a highlight video as similar to their own video as possible. They were given access to all assets (which included professionally shot videos of the wedding itself, audio files, and sourced film scratch effects) with a timeline of three business days to do this. The video was edited entirely in DaVinci Resolve 18.

This video production marks the first time that Spencer attempted color grading, as well as the largest scaled project they have ever worked on.

Recreating Psycho (2023)

For their Digital Video Production class, Spencer's first assignment was to analyze a scene from an Alfred Hitchcock film and then recreate some of the film techniques in a video of their own. Spencer decided to take a look at the final scene of Psycho (1960), where a voiceover of Mrs. Bates plays as the camera zooms in on Norman in the holding cell. Spencer focused on the zoom in and pan of the camera, while keeping the shot sizes relatively consistent with the original film. They also added a voiceover of their own into the video, playing some music underneath it as the subject is revealed to be the opposite of what they appeared to be.

Disney x My Chemical Romance (2021)

This was part of a final project for Music, Science, and Technology. The proposal of the project was mostly to experiment with how the emotion in a movie scene can change when replacing the original film score. The ballroom sequence from Beauty and the Beast (1991) was edited and extended to fit with "I Don't Love You" by My Chemical Romance to create a more melancholy look of the budding relationship between Belle and the Beast. The video was edited completely in Windows Movie Maker.

How to Read a Marching Field (2019)

This was Spencer's first and largest multi-person project they have ever been a part of. The gist of this video was to teach high school band students terminology related to marching band. Spencer was the sole animator and video editor of this project, using Autodesk Maya and Windows Movie Maker to complete their part.

Context for the final line (pictured to the side): Spencer was a senior just a couple months away from Prosper High School's graduation. "Reign" was the name of the summer/fall 2019 marching band show that would be practiced and performed after they went off to college, and "Royal Rising" was their senior year summer/fall 2018 show (of which the band performed in Indianapolis for Bands of America Grand Nationals, placing 11th place nationwide). "May you Reign for years on end" was a reference to that success, and a play on words with the shows' names.

Band SLT Vine Compilation (2018)

The premise of this video was to introduce the leadership team of the high school band via Vine recreations. While Spencer did not edit all of the Vines themselves, they did compile everything together and edit certain clips. This includes the intro, ending, euphonium leadership, head drum major.

To edit everything, Spencer used Windows Movie Maker.

They posted this video to YouTube, and it has accumulated over 4,000 views.
